CFC21 Results:
Rami El Chaoufani defeats Albert Patu via submission from a RNC, Round 1, 3:22.
Round 1 - Rami comes out quick with a solid take-down. Little struggling and some quick work but Rami scores full mount. Albert starting to posture but then turns around cause of the punches. Rami has his back and sinks in a RNC and forces Albert to tap. RNC, Round 1
Rob Lisita defeats Rory O’Connell via unanimous decision.
Rounds 1 Lisita and O’Connell circle and Lisita shoots for the takedown. Lisita working very well on-top position and working his strikes. Not much action near the middle until O’Connell scrambles and gets up. O’Connell finished the round strong, but MMAVictor scores the round 10-9 for Lisita
Round 2 – O’Connell comes out again swinging and is put down on his back again. Lisita working top position again with some heavy strikes. O’Connell looking to scramble to his feet again, but Lisita is just too strong for him. Lisita now working some angles and looking like he is setting up for a submission. Lisita keeps fighting O’Connell’s scrambling as the round ends. MMAVictor scores the round 10-9 for Lisita
Round 3 – Same old story this round, Lisita with the takedown AGAIN… O’Connell trying to scramble and posture again, but Lisita seems to understand what O’Connell wants to do. O’Connell finally gets the fight back up to its feet, but that was simply not enough. MMAVictor scores the round 10-9 for Lisita – making it a clean sweep via UD.
James Vainikolo defeats Jon Leven via TKO due to strikes midway through round 3.
Round 1 – Both guys are standing and trading but Vainikolo winning the striking affair so far. Both men clinch up and Vainikolo goes for a standing guillotine but fails to capitalize. The fight lands onto the ground and Leven ends up grabbing side control as the round ends. MMAVictor scores the round 10-9 for Vainikolo based off control and powershots.
Round 2 – Started out the same way in round two with both guys wanting to strike. Leven is hanging outside of Vainikolo range and I don’t blame him right now. Vainikolo landing every uppercut he is throwing right now. Leven visibly hurt from some of the strikes as he is stepping into range more. Leven with a couple of good leg kicks, but nothing stinging. MMAVictor scores the round 10-9 for Vainikolo again based off control and powershots.
Round 3 – Again, same as the other two rounds, both guys standing and trading. For some reason Leven’s like staying outside of Vainikolo range, but he is not going to win this fight doing that. Little flurry and Leven ends up pinned against the fence. Vainikolo dropping bombs in the corner and the referee is forced to step in and stop the fight. I didn’t get an exact time, but looks to be about halfway.
Shabe Kafo defeats Kian Pham via twister submission, Round 2 1:33 mark.
Round 1 - Everyone is talking about this being FOTN potential here! Both fighters start off with some feeling out strikes nothing major. Kafo now shoots in and grabs Pham in a guillotine. Looks like he is not all the way there as Pham is pushing his arms away. Pham now on top and Kafo transitions and takes side control. More scrambling and Pham takes back control and latches onto Kafo’s back as the scramble ensues. Kafo looks like he may tap, but he ends up slipping out right in time for the bell. Solid first round and MMAVictor is giving the round a 10-10.
Rounds 2 – Both fighters come out a little cautious this round as they look a little tired. Kafo shoots in, takes Pham down and sinks in what looks to be a twister! I have a feeling Joe Rogan / Eddie Bravo would be loving this right now. Pham taps and this fight is over. Great fight and definitely a FOTN candidate.
Dave Vergers defeats Manny Rodriguez via KO, Round 1.
Round 1 – Both fighters circling and throwing some feeling out jabs. Vergers now working a some thai leg kicks and Manny is quickly returning with jabs. Manny looks good so far countering and just like that this fight is over. Vergers just landed a sick left hook that put Manny to the ground immediately. He is having trouble moving so hopefully he is ok. Vergers wins this fight by KO.
Corey Nelson defeats Dan Pauling via KO Round 1, 30 seconds.
Round 1 – Both fighters touch gloves and are Nelson is working a heavy jab combo. Pauling coming in to close the distance and this fight is over. Nelson just landed what looked to be an overhand right and a couple of shots on the ground for good measure. The referee should have stepped in once that shot landed as Pauling was out on his feet. Nelson wins this bight by KO.
Jeff Monson defeats Jim Yorke via unanimous decision (29-28 29-28 30-27)
Round 1 – Yorke definitely the larger of the two here and Monson seemed a bit dazed when his name was called so we will have to keep an eye on that. Anyway, both guys working some strikes early on in the contest. Monson shoots in for a failed takedown. Great sprawl by Yorke and Monson still seems off. The two are continuing to exchange and Yorke is definitely landing the better strikes. Monson shoots in again, but once again nothing. Monson shoots in one last time, but was able to secure it this time. The round ends with Monson on top and this round MMAVictor scores 10-9 Yorke due to control and striking.
Round 2 – Yorke comes out using his jab and is creating distance. I am not sure if this is the best idea, but it is working so far for him. Monson still looks odd to me and seems annoyed by Yorke’s range. Monson shoots in for another failed takedown attempt. Monson back on his feet again and tries for yet another takedown and misses the mark. You can tell Yorke has worked extensively on the takedown defense as his sprawl is much improved. The round ends comes to a close with the fans dropping heavy booos and Yorke using his jab to keep Monson out of range. MMAVictor scores the round 10-9 for Yorke again due to control and striking.
Round 3 – Yorke comes out again jabbing and working his distance. Monson doesn’t waste any time by shooting in and finally scoring the takedown he has been looking for. The crowd is still boooing, but it happens. We are only halfway through the first minute here so Yorke is in trouble. Yorke doesn’t seem to uncomfortable and is trying to scramble a bit. Monson now in side control and is working some decent striking. This is a solid round for Monson who has looked to finally wake up. The round ends with Monson throwing some good blows and definitely dominating that round. MMAVictor scores this round 10-9 for Monson.
WOW – and the judges go against me and give the decision to Monson. Not going to lie, I didn’t see that one coming, but then again this is why you don’t let it go to the judges. Although, I have a real problem with the judge who dropped a 30-27.
Soa Palelei defeats Bob Sapp via TKO, Round 1 about 20 seconds in.
Round 1 – Sapp rushes over at Soa and slips. Sapp hits the mat, Soa pushes him into the corner and is throwing bombs. Sapp looks to be out and the referee step in at about the 20 second mark. Wow, didn’t see that one coming at all! Soa survives the Sapp rush and wins by TKO.
Jesse Juarez defeats Robert Whittaker via unanimous decision (46-49, 47-48, 47-48)
I lost internet connection during this fight as the venue is pretty bad. The fight was basically a back and forth tussle with Juarez getting the better of the exchange and the ground. I think you could argue Whittaker may have stolen a few of the rounds, but Juarez was just too much to handle tonight. I wish I had more for you all, but this is what happens when you lose Internet and you were partying with MMAVictor.com sponsored fighter Soa!
I hope you all enjoyed our live coverage and we will see you tonight for Bellator!
