MMAVictor’s own Pete DiLorenzo (@LonghornsMMA) had the very special privilege of speaking to former Strikeforce Champion Miesha Tate for an exclusive interview this past weekend! Over the course of this 10 Rounds interview you will not only learn which male fighter she would like to battle in the cage, but also how her recovery is going and what some of her out-of-the-cage interests are. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this 10 Rounds interview with Miesha Tate and don’t forget to throw her a shout out on Twitter (@MieshaTate) and also please support her sponsors!!
MMAVictor Pete: Miesha, please tell me a little bit about why and how you got started in MMA?
Miesha Tate: I started MMA after wrestling in high school and I started wrestling because I can’t play basketball to save my life!
MMAVictor Pete: Too funny, yea, I wasn’t the best at basketball either! What has been your most memorable moment so far in your career?
Miesha Tate: When I won my Strikeforce belt, despite injury going into the fight it was a proud moment for me.
MMAVictor Pete: Speaking of the Strikeforce belt, how are you feeling now that you are a few weeks away from your loss to Ronda?
Miesha Tate: It still sucks but I think revenge is sweeter than victory and I definitely want a rematch after I prove I deserve one.
MMAVictor Pete: With that said, anything upcoming on your Strikeforce plate that you can talk about? I know your fans can’t wait to see you back in the cage.
Miesha Tate: Nothing yet, but I am working diligently to get back in action ASAP and recovery is going better than predicted!
MMAVictor Pete: That is great and I am glad your recovery is going well! What are your thoughts on the women’s MMA industry now that promotions like InvictaFC and the XFC are really bringing it to the forefront?
Miesha Tate: I think it’s amazing to see these promotions willing to not only take the women’s divisions seriously but push them to the next level.
MMAVictor Pete: Who are some of your favorite women’s MMA fighters right now?
Miesha Tate: Every woman who steps into the cage is an inspiration to me but a few of my favorites would be Megumi Fujii, Ashley Cummins, Jessica Aguilar, Shayna Baszle, Nicdali Calanoc and Leslie Smith.
MMAVictor Pete: Now, I got to ask this, if you could step into the cage with any current male fighter who would it be and what do you think the outcome would be?
Miesha Tate: Dominic Cruz! I want his belt hahaha! I’m jealous his says UFC! I’d distract him with my cowgirl karate and then I’d take his back like a Spider Monkey and sing him a lullaby
MMAVictor Pete: Did you hear that Cruz? Yep, she said Spider Monkey – awesome!! Anyway, if you could give one piece of advice to other aspiring women’s MMA fighters what would it be?
Miesha Tate: Don’t be afraid to go after your dreams and you will only be taken as seriously as you take yourself!
MMAVictor Pete: I believe those are words that both male and female fighters can live by. When you are not training or focusing on MMA what is your focus? Better yet, I hear you can make a mean cupcake – is that true?
Miesha Tate: I can make a meanly sweet cupcake that’s the truth right there.
MMAVictor Pete: I knew it! If you never got into MMA what direction do you think you’d be in now?
Miesha Tate: I’d own a custom cake & cupcake bakery!!
MMAVictor Pete: Sign me up for some cupcakes!! Lastly, would you like to thank any of your sponsors, family or friends?
Miesha Tate: Toyo Tires, MMA Elite, Curtis & Co Watches and Tax Slayer
MMAVictor Pete: Well there you have it MMA fans! Miesha’s road to recovery is going quite nicely, she is anxiously awaiting a return to the Strikeforce cage, she would love to spider monkey and sing lullabies to Dominic Cruz while grabbing his UFC belt and she can make a mean cupcake.
Anyway, I truly hope you all enjoyed this 10 Rounds interview with one of my favorite fighters Miesha Tate. Once again I ask everyone to please throw her some shout outs on Twitter and as always please support her sponsors. Thank you again Miesha, on behalf of MMAVictor I cannot thank you enough for the time and I cannot wait to see you back in the cage!
