I say no. I have watched this fight over and over and I can honestly only give the first round to Edgar. I think Henderson won the second round even without the up-kick at the end and went on to win rounds 3, 4 and 5. A lot of people, including UFC President Dana White have claimed they think Edgar won the fight. Put the fact that Edgar looked like he was in a car accident after the fight out of your head and really watch the fight. Edgar caught some of Henderson’s kicks but pretty much all those kicks did damage and landed. Henderson kept the pressure coming and coming at Edgar. Edgar got 5 out of 12 take-downs and was never able to really keep the fight on the ground. Henderson won the fight in my opinion in what I considered a war. Henderson is one of my hometown boys and I’m not playing favorites cause he isn’t even one of my favorite fighters, but I think he owned rounds 2 through 5 and owes Edgar nothing.
Everyone thinks Edgar should get an immediate rematch cause that’s what he had to do. That’s crap! Just because one guy had to do it doesn’t mean that the other guy should. Edgar had to give an immediate rematch to Bj because everyone, even Dana White thought that Bj won, plus it was Bj Penn. Edgar did a lot of dancing in that fight. In the rematch he whooped a legend and earned his title. He lost the first fight with Maynard in my opinion, the judges screwed Maynard. So of course when there is a draw there should be a rematch and there obviously was. Edgar went into that fight and got pummeled again and was able to show the world that even “bullies” get knocked out and earned his title again. Ben Henderson left it in the judges hands and it’s not like the scores were close. He took the fight with two 49-46′s, doesn’t look that close to me. There is no reason that Edgar should get an immediate rematch for the title in my opinion.
I do think that if Edgar was smart that he would just drop down to 145 and he will get an immediate title shot at Jose Aldo’s featherweight title. The Edgar camp already claimed that, that won’t happen. They are making their case for an immediate rematch with Henderson. Now I know Dana said at the post fight conference on Fuel TV that Pettis will be next for the title, but now that Dana has said he thinks Edgar won. Look for an immediate Ben Henderson/Frankie “The Cry Baby” Edgar rematch. Sorry to all the Edgar fans out there but I think he is a cry baby and whines too much.

I look at it this way – Henderson didn’t “stop” Frankie. He rode out a decision. Since 2008 all people have done is bitch and moan about how Frankie didn’t “do enough” against BJ and Maynard – forcing rematches. I don’t see what the big deal is here to do the same for him?
Plus, what happens if he drops down and loses to Aldo via decision? Now, where does Frankie go? Back up to fight Henderson/Pettis? Nope, he drops into the abyss of nothing….
Just my two cents obviously, so if I am Frankie – I demand a rematch against Henderson and go in with a different game plan.

I love two-cents. That’s why I had a blog lol. Henderson tried to stop Edgar but like I said in a previous article, “he is rocky of the lightweight division”. That guy is so hard to finish, he is a beast. I think Edgar won both of the Penn fights. Everybody just doesn’t like him cause no one thought he should of been given that shot to begin with (I didn’t). I still think the first Maynard fight was close and that Maynard won (I have scene that fight so much). The lightweight division is my favorite divsion if you can’t tell, hense all the passion lol. I think if Edgar did more damage to Henderson and didn’t look like he was in a stampede, that he should get a reamtch. I just don’t think it was that close to give him an immediate rematch. It’s time to move on. But at the same time I’m still not sure if Pettis is #1 after fights with Stephens and Lauzon. I see Edgar getting his immediate rematch, I just don’t agree. Plus I think if Edgar dropped down to 145 that he can beat Aldo. If anyone has a gameplan for Aldo, it’s Edgar.

It is truly amazing what has happened to all the divisions under 170. With the new flyweight division and an overflow of under 170 lbers in local promotions such as AFO it is only going to get better. This is why I am not worried so much about Aldo finding good competition and if Edgar does fight him I can’t see Edgar finishing him. Sadly, my boy Frankie is turning into old school Dan “Decision” Henderson. Just kidding!
Anyway, I totally see where you are coming from and at the same time, I am not sure the majority of UFC fans want to see another Frankie “rematch.” I do though =/

I think benson would beat frankie worse in a rematch . And pettis but I dont think either will get it . I just dont see anyone beating him anytime soon . Hes getting better and better constantly inproving the guy is really not even human lol watch some of his brown belt tournaments
